Knowing that it was about three years ago that WTD had last provided a guide to available column speakers on the market, we knew it was time to once again provide a valuable snapshot into what is available to those who might be on the lookout for column speakers in their worship space.
In this six-page PDF, there is a breakdown of specifications for nine different manufacturers models, with three models coming in with price tags at under $900 per speaker, four different speaker models coming in at price ranges from between $1,200 to $2,400 per speaker, and two models that run at more than $5,500 per speaker.
As noted previously, when it comes time to decide on which model or models to consider, a good place to start would be to review the performance requirements in your church and discuss them with your AV consultant/integrator.
For churches looking to improve their sound, but not wanting speakers that might be construed as not complementary to a worship space’s decor, a viable alternative could be column speakers.
To get a sense of how column speakers can blend into your space, they are typically designed to be very tall and narrow to match a column’s dimensions. One of the nine models featured in this slideshow, the Renkus-Heinz IC7-II, was installed a few years back at the United Methodist Church in Conway, S.C., Here’s an example of how well blended a well-installed column speaker can be for your worship respace.
Enjoy this review and update pertaining to nine high-quality column speakers.
